The rare and important Queen Anne double dome bookcase and selected other items come from the family of the late Mrs Owen Rainger, the well known Auckland socialite. Mrs Rainger had exquisite taste in antiques, furnishings, textiles and objet d'art and over the years amassed a superb collection. She and her husband lived in a substantial Remuera manor known as the "pink house" which was featured in architectural books and magazines.
