mildly swollen square form body, the open rectangular neck with flat top rim, the tenmoku glaze with dominant dark tone, dark red/brown showing through, chun overglaze to the shoulder with dribbled effects in pale blue tone. Impressed maker's mark to base. 300 x 200 x 350. Provenance: This and the following Len Castle items come from the Jack Smith. Jack grew up through 1940's and 1950's in Grey Lynn with the Castle's as his neighbours. Len and Len's younger brother Neil lived almost next door. Jack appreciated the arts community, a builder and yachty, he kept contact with Len and was a regular supporter. Part of Jack's collection was sold through Cordy's March 2010. $1750
