the twin screw motor vessel in operation from 1925-1970. The wood constructed model painting in green and red dominant tones with yellow and soft red bands, completely rigged, detailed with lifeboats etc., the kauri base with full glass encased cover. Length of model 1500. Note: The reefer Matua was one of the first cruise ships to appear off the coasts of various South Pacific islands, lured by the exotic destinations and golden beaches, space for bananas was quickly taken over by tourists, she offered single and two-berth cabin accommodation for 39 one-class passengers. The word 'Matua' in most Polynesian languages translates to 'Kinship'. She was used in the Second World War to transport troops from Auckland to Fiji and Tonga.
