'Head of a Champion' the racehorse Poseidon, gouache with white heightening, signed and dated '08. 578 x 440. Frank Mahony (1862-1916) Australian, studied at the Academy of Art. He was an illustrator for the Bulletin and became known for his excellent drawing of horses. He is represented in the Art Gallery of N.S.W and various other public galleries. Poseidon won 19 races including the Victorian and AJC Derby's, the Caulfield Cup twice and the Melbourne Cup. $1200
