with marine ivory carved head with long beard and whalebone carved hands and feet, his robes of a particular brown felt traditional of the Capuchin order of monks, cappuccino was named from this. Formed as a likeness to Jeremiah James Purcell O'Reilly, a Franciscan monk of the Capuchin order who came to New Zealand in 1843 soon becoming Wellington’s first parish priest. He travelled to Kapiti Island with Bishop Pompallier to try and convert Te Rauparaha to Christianity. He died in Wellington in 1880. L.270mm.
