Lot Details
formed as a harpoon with silver ribbon suspended on wire rope with fret cut letters 'IKOLAKI'. L.65mm. Note: Papers Past details a fishing report in 1868 of Mr Buchanan's Fishery 'Ikolaki' of Akoroa. Another reference dated 1844 details 'We regret to announce the loss of this vessel at a whaling station, called Ikolaki, situated to the south of Akaroa'.
