'On the Prairies a Seller of Indian Wares' and Little Head running over with Curls', coloured pencil on paper, entitled. 160 x 100mm. Merton was a New Zealand-born British painter who studied sketching under Frances Hodgkins in 1910. The illustration of the woman depicts Merton’s wife, Ruth Jenkins, with whom he had two children.
