reputedly for the mass storage of cannonballs, rectangular mildly tapered form with everted lip, the front with armorial of the British Ordinance Office, a shield with three cannons and three cannon balls framed by the date 1855 above 'BO' and a broad arrow mark. Some old pitch repairs. Provenance: Unearthed from a Patey Street Remuera garden, and most likely to have been used during the N.Z Wars. 1000 x 700 x 600.
