c.1853-1889, with wide single edge, hatchet point blade, single shallow full length fuller to right hand face. Hilt with timber scales to each side of shaped blade tang, rounded pommel. Straight steel bar cross guard with rounded quillons. Leather covered wood scabbard with brass chape and locket. L.615mm. 635mm including scabbard. 452mm blade length. 470mm scabbard (later decorated leather). Guard stamped “77”. Frog stud stamped “1.79”. Chape and locket – lacquered brass. Wooden scales replaced, screwed, not riveted. Total weight 2080gm
