Lot Details
a squat globular jar of buff coloured clay. Flat base, wide shoulder short neck and narrow mouth. The upper exterior body and part neck with a band of transparent green blue glaze, slightly crazed. H.8.5cm. Dia.10.4cm Cat. Note/Ref.:Conventionally described as a ginger jar, this type of pot, described by Ritchie as 'a narrow neck green glaze ginger jar', has only been located in urban digs in New Zealand. Ritchie suggests they date from post 1900.
