Lot Details
one an uncommon pair of 9ct gold wings, the wings framed by a crowned wreath with the monogram AFC, the reverse engraved '2/LT. O. ANDREWS'. 6.4gms. In Stewart Dawson & Co case. The other a silver sweetheart brooch as a map of Australia with central enamelled triangle in pale blue, red and dark blue being the colours for the Australian Flying Corps. Note: Ormond Andrews, a shop assistant from Carlton, Victoria served with the 14th Battalion at Gallipoli, being slightly wounded in the hand. Then appointed a cadet and attached to the AFC Officer School in October, 1917 he was attached to 6 Squadron Australian Flying Corps, finishing the war as a 2/ Lieutenant. Any material to the AFC is far less common than the more numerous Royal Flying Corps.
