cire perdue (lost wax) bronze, signed and dated 1905, foundry mark of Claude Valsuani. H.245mm (excluding mahogany plinth). Note: The Valsuani foundry was associated with Renoir, Daumier, Picasso, Troubetskoy, Matisse, et al. Verdié was at various times in the early 20thC on the committee of, and an exhibitor at the Exposições Gerais de Belas Artes, Rio de Janeiro.
