Lot Details

the very large vase of Arc boat form, with long lozenge domed top, with eight circular random openings to the top. In vibrant orange, red gloss ‘sunglaze’ glaze. H.300. L.820mm. Note: Graham has been a full time potter for most of his life. He taught at the Auckland Studio Potters for at least 20 years. His work is strongly influenced by the modernist movement, his primary interest is in creating minimalist forms. He is particularly known for his mastery of a bold glazes that complement his refined shapes. Having a long friendship with Len Castle, he invited Len to work from his then new Massey workshop in 2005, together they shared that space for the last six years of Len's life. This pot and others in this auction, from the private collection of the potter, Graham Ambrose.
