each in red wax with British Coat of Arms above names of various NZ towns: Akaroa, Auckland 1/2, Auckland 2/2, Bluff Harbour, Dunedin, Havelock, Hokianga, Hokititka, Invercargill, Mongonui, Napier, Nelson, New Plymouth, Oamaru, Onehunga, Picton, Riverton, Russell, Timaru, Wairau, Wangarei, Wellington. Each approx. 45 x 45mm. Note: NZ Customs department was established on 5 January 1840, when the first Head of Customs was appointed in Kōrōrārēka, Bay of Islands. The departments primary function when it was established was to gather revenue for the government.
