Lot Details

watercolour, signed lower right, 345 x 230mm. Exhibited 'Paintings & Drawings by Horace Moore-Jones, Hamilton Art Gallery, 1964, cat no. 64. Note: Painting in both Australia and New Zealand, Horace Moore-Jones undertook a number of local scenes alongside his more well-known paintings of Gallipoli. The Waitakere Bush was one of his favoured locations and both Moore-Jones and other colonial artists such as Charles Blomfield and Trevor Lloyd featured the untamed Kauri bush landscape and local logging activities.
