c.1937, with 29mm steel case with serial 68480 to back plate, engraved with owner's name, Swiss silver quadrant dial with Arabic numerals, sub seconds, 17 jewel mechanical movement. Black leather strap. Provenance: Ex. Cordy's auction 17th July 2012 Lot 490 The Estate of David Brown (Lord Ponsonby Antiques). Note: The reverse engraved ' 'P. Mitford', possibly Pamela Mitford. Pamela with her sister Nancy gained widespread attention for their stylish and controversial lives as young people, and for their public political divisions between communism and fascism and links with Adolf Hitler.
