'Old Mill Mount Eden', etching, signed and titled. 270 x 175mm. Windmill Domain opposite Cordy's is named after the Eden Flour Mill established by William Mason, politician, architect and farmer, in 1844 The large scoria windmill, and a timber store and millers house was soon sold to Reverend Walter Lawry, of the Wesleyan Church then later purchased by John Bycroft and in the late 1860s it was taken over by Robert Robertson who used the millstones to work crushing bones for fertilizer. The windmill was decommissioned in the 1920s and mill buildings demolished in the fifties.
