watercolour, dyeline, charcoal with white heightening, signed c.1948. 470 x 345mm. Purchased late 1940's from the Primrose Pottery Shop, Little Collins Street, Melbourne. Various letters between the original owner (the donor) of this work and the artist detailing in part... 'Over the years, hanging in our home in Auckland the painting faded and in 1983 my husband set about finding the painter with the view to having it restored ( A story in itself). He was successful as the enclosed correspondence shows....' This correspondence and the book 'The Art Of Elizabeth Durack' 1982, signed and inscribed by the artist, is included with the sale of this work.
