Lot Details

.450 express, black powder, 25¼" double barrels, side swing under lever for opening, two leaf platinum line rear sight (150/250 yds), silver bead front sight, matted rib, checkered lever keyed forend, engraved action locks, frame and lever. Checkered pistol grip with iron cap, walnut stock with cheek rest, extended butt, horn butt plate, sling eyes; vacant silver cartouche, locks and barrels marked "Joseph Lang and Son", barrel also has address "10 Pall Mall, London". Associated leather case with accessories and some brass cartridges (Rice notes: 4¾ dram No.6 black pwdr, 360 grn lead bullet). #7903. ALR Footnote: In 1826, Joseph Lang married James Purdey’s daughter and purchased stock left from J. Manton’s bankruptcy. The company name was changed to Joseph Lang and Son in 1875 and moved to 10, Pall Mall in 1890. The company was bought out in 1925.
