'The Rev. J. Waterhouse superintending the Landing of the Missionaries at Taranaki, New Zealand. 305 x 415mm. Baxter's process is woodblock colour printing superimposed on a copper or steel plate etching. This historic image shows the Maori tribespeople gathering on the foreshore, the reverend conversing with a tribal elder and a group of women carrying one of the missionaries to the shore. Some toning, small repair to top margin plus damage to edges.
