Note: After graduating from Cardiff College of Art. in 1961, I began my teaching career in the Valleys before being recruited in ’64 as the first art teacher in Nyasaland – later to become Malawi. The dramatic contrast between the two landscapes became my inspiration for landscape painting which ever since, has been the main focus of my work. Expanse and scale were the major aspects at that time.
