Lot Details
Septimus Meiklejohn - boat builder at Omaha near Mahurangi 1870s. Sailing scows were associated with the gum trade and the flax and kauri industries of northern New Zealand. Logs when hauled were always carried above deck secured by heavy chain; the space between decks being left empty to give added buoyancy.
