A Chelaberd (Eagle Kazak) Karabakh rug. First half 20thC. 266 x 133cm., All wool construction. The midnight blue field with abrash dye variation, patterned with three giant medallions in unusual colours. The 'eagle' characterisation due to the resemblance of the medallions to the double-headed eagle of the Russian coat of arms.
