A large Gulmekhmer pattern Karabakh carpet. Beginning of the 20thC. 565 x 203cm., Proposed by Professor Kerimov as being the central carpet of a 'dest khali-gebe' set. The pattern of 'gul' (flower) 'mekhmer' (velvet) hence velvet-flower, a profusion of complex design. Framed by a broad 'herati' border between narrower bands.
