Lot Details
Léon Noireaut (French 1886-1960) painted many models of this type - smoking men or drinkers. Sometimes he signed as his wife Elisabeth Baro. After studying fine arts in Paris Noireaut settled in Germany after fighting in WWI returning to Paris during WWII. His works are very recognizable by these portraits of men with pipes hats or glasses of wine.
