Photo taken at Empire Pool (now Wembley Arena) Wembley Park London in 1951/1952. The Empire Pool was built for the 1934 British Empire Games. From Left to right : · Daphne Walker (4 May 1924 to 22 Dec 2023) - British Amateur Champion figure skater - 1939 3rd in the world (the war interrupted her skating) - - 1947 2nd in the world · Richard (Dick) Button, American figure skater– Harvard undergraduate – won 5 World and 2 Olympic (1948 and 1952) Ice skating titles and gave his only exhibition in the UK at this venue · Sheila Hamilton skater · Lady Elvin (wife of Sir Arthur Elvin - he built the Empire Pool) · Dick Button’s mother
