with blue field and meandering floral pink border four lions rampant. Note: With its unconventional European heraldic imagery - the vendor believed this rug may have been woven as part of a commission for the British mission in Teheran. Provenance: From the collection of the late Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki curator - Ron Brownson (1952-2023).
