Lot Details
oil on card, some surface wear/cracking commensurate with age, framed behind anti-reflective AR70 glass, 200 x 150mm this painting is in the style of Maestri, who painted these works inspired be ancient Pompeian and Herculaneum allegorical frescos. They were produced as souvenir's during the 'Grand Tour' period, reffering to 'a custom of a traditional trip through Europe, with Italy as a key destination, undertaken by upper-class young European men of sufficient means and rank when they had come of age, at about 21 years old', this custom reached it's peak at the turn of the 18th/19th centuries.
