Lot Details
painted with a kotare (kingfisher) on a branch in front of reeds, in open worked frame with scroll, wire rope and bead detail, with fixed suspension loop to the top. Stamped marks 'A.F. Darby' and 'STG.SIL'. Note: Darby is recorded as a contemporary of Edith Morris and Elsie Reeve, exhibiting alongside them. Initially working in a Panama Street studio, Wellington. Exhibiting Canterbury Society of Arts 1919, 1922, 1924 and New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts 1919, 1920 and 1921.
