Lot Details

oil on board, signed and dated 1947 verso together with another pencil and wash work of women bathing and working in the field. 140 x 180mm. In original frame. Provenance: Private collection Auckland. Note: Buckland-Wright was born in Dunedin. A self-taught artist, he moved to the UK to study history and architecture before deciding to focus on art, becoming a draughtsman and later a master printmaker. After WWII, he taught at the Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts and the Slade School of Fine Art.
