Lot Description

A large octagonal Wedgwood Fairyland lustre bowl by Daisy Makeig-Jones, c.1920, the interior decorated with 'Woodland Elves VIII - Boxing Match', the exterior with panels of 'Castle on a Road' framed by a cobble border. Factory marks and pattern number 'Z5125' Dia.265mm. The pattern described in a 1921 Wedgwood publication as 'Once upon a time there was a castle which was built on a road. It was connected with a surrounding road....Fays have red hair, and are all sorts of curious shapes, and colours, and they eat the honey in the flowers, fly from place to place, and maker their homes in the largest apples...'
