portraits of the artist's daughter Suzanne Silvester, oil on board and one large sheet with multiple portrait sketches, the oil signed, two of the sketches entitled, signed and dated c.1956. The oil 385 x 310mm, the sketch sheet 495 x 745mm. Provenance: From the Jean Farquhar estate family collection. Note: Jean Farquhar (married name Silvester, b.1915-1967) attended Auckland Girls Grammar School, then Elam School of Fine Arts. Jean won the Carnegie Travelling Scholarship in Art selected by Auckland Society of Arts. Travelling to Britain then to France studying at the André Lhote Studio in Paris until the outbreak of WWII, then back to Britain. Jean worked as a poster designer for the publicity branch of the Post Office Savings Bank.
