Lot Details

she reclines upon a lion's head rug in a Grecian tunic, reading a book, a griffin supports the curved end. L.425mm. The original carved in marble c.1785 attributed to Pierre Julien. The subject is possibly Ariadne. Similar sculptures were part of a set offered in the Barbedienne foundry's catalogue of 1886.
