Lot Details

designed by Ernest Shufflebotham, ribbed spherical shape, incised number and printed mark. H.230mm. Note: After being a skilled potter working for Wedgwood, especially throwing Keith Murray (New Zealand born) designs, Ernest came to Auckland in 1948 to join the Crown Lynn factory where he developed his own style. The matt white finish of his work was made possible by Crown Lynn's 1948 development of a formula based on halloysitic clay from Matauri Bay. In1955 he returned to England with his family.
