Burkina Faso, tapering carved figural form, terminating in a crested mask, missing blade. Mounted on stand. H.600mm. Provenance: Private Auckland collection, acquired Webb's Auction House, Important Oceanic & African Art, 11 November 2010, lot 44. Formerly from the Merton D. Simpson Collection, accompanied by a certificate from the Merton D. Simpson Gallery signed digitally by Director Juliette Pelletier. Purchased from Sotheby's, June 1985. Previously in the collection of Pierre Robin.
