They also made two and three tier scales. NZ GPO, marked on timber base Letters “NZ and Arrow.” Letters “VR and Crown” on bottom tier arm, complete with four brass block weights 4oz, 2oz, 1oz & ½oz. (Note although there is a slot for a ¼oz weight, during the period of use, there was not a British ¼oz postal rate). The ½oz was the normal lowest postal weight and rate. The three lower beams have hanging plates fixed weights from the base ½oz, 1oz, 1½oz with the top beam pre-loaded at 2oz with the ability to add further block weights.
