The New Zealand 1990 Commemoration Medal is an official royal honour instituted by Queen Elizabeth II on February 9, 1990, to mark the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi. Also known as the Sesquicentennial Medal, it was awarded during 1990 to 3,632 individuals. Recipients were chosen to recognize their virtues, talents, loyalty, and significant contributions to New Zealand life, particularly related to the 1990 sesquicentennial celebrations
