London, circa 1810, ivory scale divided -2 to 99, brass index arm, ivory vernier divided 0-20, brass thumbscrew lock, sighting vane absent, brass mirrors and plug in shades (green, red (cracked), amber), adjustment of the horizon glasses by levers, wing nuts and milled clamping screws, capped pencil and one support strut absent. Marked at the centre of the scale (at 47º) ‘SBR’. In stepped oak case. Provenance: The H.N.E Sheppard Estate Collection.
