The Barque Otago, sailing in heavy weather partially reefed, another vessel in the distance, oil on canvas, signed and dated 1886. 555 x 850mm. Note: The Otago was built in 1869 by Duncan and Sons of Glasgow for Patrick Henderson. She was an immigrant sailing ship sailing out of Dunedin for the New Zealand Government and operated by the Shaw Savill Line. She was torpedoed and sunk during WWI. Provenance: The National Maritime Museum on loan from the Charlebois Collection.
