Notes: 'Cliff was another of the group of 8 people selected from the 5 N.Z. Teacher’s Colleges of the time, who trained in Dunedin as Art & Craft Advisers.' - Graeme Storm. 'The Whangarei & Auckland Art & Craft Advisors to schools were to meet on an in-service course on “Printmaking” I was part of this event. Led by Para Matchitt and Cliff Whiting we met down in Stanley Street in a building tagged for demolition. While we - the trainees were given standard issue 12”x12” lino blocks our two leaders gleefully ripped the existing lino from the floor. Quickly these were trimmed into large blocks and the two lads set about with real chisels, deftly cutting away their designs. Again, the rest of us used little boxes of small cutting instruments. All in keeping with our teaching children - printmaking methods. Finally, the printing process. Cliff soon found that his ink had started to dry before he had time to roll the bottom of his lino block. Anyone who wanted a print had to volunteer to help with the inking.' - Jacquie Storm. Provenance: From the collection of Jacquie and Graeme Storm.
