An uncommon Edith Morris Arts & Crafts silver cuff, this substantial studio jewellery item sculpted and applied with florals flanked by applied pierced panels and curved and scrolling bars, of solid construction. Impressed arrow and silver marks. W.34mm, Dia.65mm, 73gm. Note: Edith Morris arrived in New Zealand from Kent, England in 1924. She took a metalwork course at Wellington Technical College, where under the head of the college's School of Art, Nelson Isaac, she was taught jewellery, enamelling, chasing, repousse and silversmithing. From 1936 Morris worked from her studio/home in the artistic hub of Days Bay Wellington through until the early 1960's.

Para Matchitt (1933-2021), Untitled, (Bull), oil on board, signed and dated 1964, 370 x 500mm. Note: 'During the time Para and I lived and worked in Hamilton, he had a fascination with Spanish bullfighting and those like Picasso who depicted it. He often used to do sketches of matadors and toreadors in action. In fact, I believe he did some wall painting for a local coffee shop on this subject. (From Smale's Point.)'; 'No.3, Auckland, New Zealand. (From Britomart Barrack.)'; 'No.4, Auckland, New Zealand. (From the New Wharf.)'. Each entitled and detailed 'Drawn by J.P. Hogan. 1852. Published by J. Williamson, Stationer &c. Auckland.' Full paper size 565 x 380mm. Housed in later leather trimmed book form box with gilt tooled detail. Note: Hogan worked as "Director" of a drawing class at the Mechanics Institute in Auckland, also as a surveyor and by 1853 was listed in Parnell as an artist.

Para Matchitt (1933-2021), untitled Māori abstract themes, linocut block, c.1960s, 405 x 750mm. Note: This is the original linocut block from which the prints were taken. 'Para and I trained together in 1957 as Art & Craft Advisers for the Education Dept. We later worked as Itinerant specialists in the Waikato area, and it was in Hamilton during this time that Para carved this lino block, which he exchanged with me for some of my pottery.' Maud Burge (1865-1957), untitled French farmhouse scene, watercolour, signed, 270 x 315mm. Note: Maude Burge was influenced by James Nairn. She spent time as an expatriate artist specifically in Europe. She was a painting companion of Frances Hodgkins who called Maude Burge a "charming changeable woman" in her published letters. They painted together at the Burge family home in St. Tropez and in Ibiza.

A Louis XVI-style mantel clock, the shaped case inlaid with cut brass Boulle work on black lacquered ground and heavily tarnished rococo ormolu mounts, surmounted by a pagoda top crowned by a standing heraldic angel figure. The cast dial with white enamel hour cartouches with blue Roman numerals, gong striking movement, sunburst pendulum above a sloping checkered floor, behind a glazed door mounted with a floral adorned putti. Mike O'Donnell (Taraiki Pottery) 'House of Manu', salt glazed stoneware three-piece sculpture, the 'House' with stylised bird form to the roof apex, inscribed roof, the end with pierced cross and lower opening with koru impressed decoration, the two flanking doorway forms with stylised open winged birds to the top, each incorporating a large sculpted volute scroll on repeating shell impressed textured ground, heavy salt glazed effects in part. A rare pair of Doulton Lambeth flasks decorated by Hannah Barlow, the disc bodies incised sgrafitto to either side with ponies and horses, stags and hinds. The flasks raised on circular spreading bases (two chips to one and small flake to other) and with short cylindrical necks with silver mounts and ring caps to cork stoppers. Impressed factory mark and date 1876 along with monograms for Barlow and assisting artists Emily E. Stomer and Emma Martin. Silver hallmarked for London 1876 by Jane Brownett. H.255mm.
