Lot Details

the gilt cast bronze case with applied and pierced details, the white enamel dial with stylised Eastern-Arabic numerals; eight-day, time and count-wheel strike movement with silk thread suspension, marked 'Médaille d'Bronze 176'. H.410mm. Provenance: The estate collection of Prof. G. Dawson. CONDITION REPORT: The case is finished with a combination of high polish and matt gilding. Dust has caused dulling of the high polish areas. An old BADA (British Antique Dealers Assn export) sticker is affixed to the left hand side. The left front spire finial is slightly bent. Two small finials (?) are absent from the left and right sides of the bottom level of the plinth. Two small screw holes to the back may have held a translucent panel to cover the back opening behind the pendulum. The movement is running but may require overhaul for continuous action. The silk suspension is presently replaced with cotton. The strike action works (delicate ring on bell). The enamel face has a fine, just noticeable hairline crack running between 1 and 4. There are two impact knocks to the enamel around the right hand winding hole. Height 410mm, width 155mm, depth 105mm
