the hood with swan neck pediment and central brass eagle on a ball, the clock face with painted decoration of a tavern scene, the four corners depicting the various countries of Great Britain, Roman numerals, two secondary dials (one with hands absent), eight-day movement, striking on a bell, the right side of the base with some veneer losses. 470 x 240 x 2230mm. CONDITION REPORT: Scottish, by Thomas McCredie, Stranraer (historically in Wigtownshire, now Dumfries and Galloway), signed to the dial. circa 1840. Well painted dial in fine condition. Original winder. Original pendulum with painted bob. Original weights. Subsidiary seconds and calendar dials. Hand for seconds dial broken but extant. Minute hand not sitting tight on spindle. Mechanism runs (unsure as to calendar mechanism) but may require overhaul/clean for continuous operation. Bell strike operates. No key for doors Removeable hood: right hand scroll old repair. Fabric requires replacement in grilles to sides Trunk: good mahogany veneer over pine. Fascia in fairly good condition, Major panel of veneer missing on right hand side of base (requires total replacement) and small associated losses on cavetto moulding on right hand side top of base section. Small veneer loss to right hand side of base (sectional replacement required) 1990 valuation for £3000
