Lot Details
with gold-plated hilt oval crossguard and mirror-blacked blade with gilt etching commemorating the eight Victoria Cross medals won by Army Commandos during WWII. One side etched with F-S dagger, 'Commando', 'The Army / Commandos / 1940–45', 'United / We Conquer', and circular Commando insignia. The other side has “J. Nowill & Sons Est. 1700 Sheffield England” and inscribed and 'They Performed Whatsoever Their King Commanded, and "When Shall Their Glory Fade' flanking a Victoria Cross, between laurel wreath and garrot insignia. Blade 6⅞", overall 11⅝". With brown leather leg sheath with chrome chape Note Said by previous owner to be from a limited edition of 5000.
