Lot Details
520mm blade, 123mm tang with single mekugi. Quatrefoil iron tsuba, ribbon bound shagreen hilt, menuki of a skull and woman, fuchi-kashira and kozuka hilt with mixed metal designs of shellfish. Black lacquer saya. Overall 755mm. Notes: The reading of the signature and date from Ken Corneal's personal catalogue listing. Both sides of tang inscribed. The listing also describes the hamon as sanbon sugi (three cedars). Left side has some open grain visible. Both blade notches appear reduced. Saya with old repairs.
