Lot Details
Maker plate names Samuel Collet of Gore Coach building. The NZ Gazette mentions the business taking vehicle to agricultural shows in 1894. This style of cart was developed in Cape town for a light vehicle that moves well with two horses, where young men liked to impress the girls with their driving skills. The Fashion moved on to Europe and NZ where this one was built. The Curricle is very similar to the Cape Cart- only the method of supporting the pole being different. A good lightweight training vehicle. Welded rubber tyres with timber spokes. A very long shaft. Two lamps. Well used. Some restoration needed on wheels and upholstery.
