Lot Details
by team members of the England v New Zealand series and Australian players from the 1978/79 era, including: Richard Hadlee, Ian Botham, Gregg Chappell, Rod Marsh, David Gower, Mike Brearley, Mark Burgess, Bevan Congdon, John Wright. New Zealand toured England from July to August 1978. This came just months after New Zealand's historic first-ever Test win over England, achieved earlier that same year on the reverse tour in New Zealand (Feb-March 1978) - so this series saw England restore normal order fairly emphatically at home. Result: England won 3-0 (all three, no draws). Captains: Mike Brearley (England), Mark Burgess (New Zealand). Notable debuts: John Emburey made his Test debut for England during the series. Also on tour: England won the accompanying ODI series 2-0, though New Zealand won two additional one-off ODIs played right at the end of the tour The Australian signatures were most likely gathered at World Series Cricket ‘Supertest’ matches or exhibition fixtures around 1978-79.
