Lot Details
Including: Richard Hadlee, Bevan Congdon, Glenn Turner, Bruce Taylor, Ken Wadsworth, Geoff Boycott, Ray Illingworth, John Snow. Three-Test series, England won 2–0, one drawn. Played June–July 1973. 1st Test, Trent Bridge: England won by 38 runs. New Zealand set an unlikely 479 to win and fell agonisingly short — Bevan Congdon and Vic Pollard's 177-run stand was a national-record 5th-wicket partnership and one of the great rearguard chase efforts, remembered as New Zealand ‘climbing a mountain... only to stumble near the summit.’ 2nd Test, Lord's: Drawn. New Zealand posted a big 551/9 declared, their highest total against England at the time. 3rd Test, Headingley: England won. Bevan Congdon was the standout for New Zealand across the series with his captaincy and Trent Bridge heroics. Geoff Arnold and John Snow led England's bowling attack. Frank Hayes, Graham Roope, and Derek Underwood also featured for England.
