Lot Details
Including: Clive Lloyd, Rohan Kanai, Graham Pollock, Barry Richards, Intikhab Alam, Roy Illingworth, Derek Underwood. This series was hastily arranged as a replacement after England's scheduled tour by South Africa was cancelled in the fallout from the D'Oliveira Affair — a five-match series played as unofficial ‘Tests’ (later stripped of official Test status, since Rest of the World wasn't a genuine nation). Result: Rest of the World won 4–1. Some of the England team signatures are badly faded. High points match by match:- 1st Test, Lord's: ROW XI won by an innings and 80 runs 2nd Test, Trent Bridge: England's lone win, by 8 wickets — built on Ray Illingworth's 97 and a big Brian Luckhurst 113 in the chase, plus 4-wicket hauls from both Basil D'Oliveira and Tony Greig. Eddie Barlow scored 142 for ROW in the losing effort. 3rd Test, Edgbaston: ROW XI won by 5 wickets. 4th Test, Headingley: ROW XI won. 5th Test, The Oval: ROW XI won by 4 wickets in a match remembered as a genuine classic despite the series already being settled - Graeme Pollock's elegant 114 was the highlight. Debutant John Lever took 7/83 on debut, and Geoff Boycott's 157 kept England in the hunt.
