Including legendary players: Curtly Abrose, Jeffrey Dujon, Malcolm Marshall, Alec Stewart, Michael Atherton, Robin Smith, Phil Tufnell, Graham Gooch West Indies toured England from May to August 1991, playing five Tests and three ODIs under captain Viv Richards. The Test series finished drawn 2–2, while England won the ODI series 3–0. Graham Gooch's England side was far more settled than the team beaten heavily on the previous, ‘disastrous’ 1988 tour, and gave a much better account of themselves this time. The West Indies squad was largely the same core as 1988 — Gordon Greenidge, Viv Richards and Jeff Dujon were all playing what they said would be their final tours, while Richie Richardson had matured into one of the best batsmen in the world, contesting that unofficial ranking with Gooch and Robin Smith throughout the tour. Gooch's 154 not out was a highlight and Gooch and Curtly Ambrose shared joint players of the series with 480 runs and 28 wickets respectively.
